The current day narratives of Black Men are often scary, discouraging, and often non-existent in terms of their added value to American culture. Over the last 24 years, Lawrence Carthan and his wife Teresa Carthan proudly and effectively provided a vital community-based music education/mentoring program for youth throughout New York Cty. His mentoring program is designed to develop leadership skills while helping the adolescents to find a positive method of interacting with peers and solutions to peer pressure. His students have performed at churches, various civic events for celebrities like Chris Brown, 50 cents, Allen Houston, and LL Cool J. Larry has won 2 Congressional Achievement Awards, a Proclamation from a Senator of Queens NY, a Citation from the City Council, State Senate, and State Legislature. Lastly, he has been featured on the Huffington Post and was selected as a Catalyst of New York City Media.
